They stole a wallet from a parked car and used the credit card to buy cigarettes from two vending machines, triggering notifications on the owner's phone, who then noticed the theft.

The Carabinieri of the Cabras station were thus able to identify and report the three perpetrators: three North Africans aged 25, 18, and 16, guests of various reception centers in the province of Oristano.

The investigation was triggered by a complaint filed by the victim, a forty-four-year-old resident of the seaside village of Torre Grande: around 6 a.m. on Tuesday , he noticed, through notifications on his cell phone generated by his home banking, that during the night there had been improper transactions on his Postepay card at two separate betting shops.

He had confirmation of the theft when he discovered that unknown criminals, after forcing the window, had taken the wallets from the car.

The three were identified thanks to images from video surveillance systems.
