The courage and skill of the mini knights and the enthusiasm of the crowd prevailed over the August 10th sun. Today's summer Sartiglietta, the 35-degree version, which ended just a short while ago, provided many tourists with a breathtaking spectacle.
It was a way to let vacationers know what happens in Oristano on Carnival Monday. For the Pro Loco, the event's promoter, it was another success to be celebrated. For Francesca Dessì, the eleven-year-old mini-amazon who played the role of " su componidoreddu," it was a dream come true. After entrusting two very young girls with the dressing ritual, on a makeshift stage, she sped past on her steed, attempting to hit the star, which, however, fell to the sand.
Gabriele Piras, 17, sent the crowd into a frenzy: incredibly fast, he hit the target. Next up, the star was tiny Lorenzo Aru, seven. He was awarded the prize by his father Salvatore, who composed for the Carpenters' Guild last February. Hugs, kisses, and plenty of emotion awaited. Francesco Tumbarello then hit the bullseye. Applause followed for Giulia Sechi , daughter of a famous rider: her mother is Emanuela Colombino, a Sartiglia rider.
Lara Carta and Elio Sanna then took the star. "Su componidoreddu" immediately took center stage, managing to spear the star with his "stoccu." "Su terzu" Laura Firinu also scored a center. The race, accompanied by the roll of the Pro Loco mini drummers and trumpeters, and featuring riders from the Giara Oristanese and the Eleonora d'Arborea association, ended with 8 stars and a spectacular rowing effort from Francesca Dessì.
Su componidoreddu, reclining on his horse and holding his small scepter of violets, greeted the crowd of Torregrande, enchanting those who witnessed this ritual for the first time. Then came the pairs. And another edition was archived.
