Moments of fear and violence in the Oristano prison, where an inmate attacked a prison officer and brutally beat him after pushing him.

This was reported by Luca Fais , regional secretary of the Autonomous Penitentiary Police Union. «Yet another serious episode of violence in a Sardinian prison. In fact, in the prison of Oristano a brutal attack took place by some inmates against an Agent: one in particular, of Apulian origin, after having received clarifications on an organizational method of the Internal Regulations, first treacherously struck him and then push him into a room and actually beat him with brutal violence ", says Fais.

«Great solidarity and closeness to the seriously injured colleague – adds Fais – but this is the straw that breaks the camel's back: no more violence against the Penitentiary Police. We demand that the State protects its servants."

Fais highlights the high number of prisoners confined in the High Security prison (around 140) which is contrasted with a significant shortage of Penitentiary Police personnel: «These prisoners must be confined in other prisons, structurally prepared - he adds - The situation is really on the edge, incandescent."

«One thing is certain - declares Donato Capece, general secretary of Sappe - the union will not give up an inch and will not stop its demands to guarantee the prison police officers of Oristano maximum physical safety on duty. This is why we ask to be equipped with tasers to stop attacks by violent prisoners . We ask for the immediate application of article 14 bis of the penitentiary system, which provides for restrictions suitable for containing violent and dangerous subjects."
