For the first time there is also a man, a figure who for many years took care of women, walking alongside them. One of the 2025 “Eleonora d'Arborea” awards, promoted by the Oristano section of the Italian Federation of Women in the Arts, Professions and Business led by Pupa Tarantini, will be awarded today to Dr. Antonello Gallus, who passed away last year, «for his commitment to the prevention of breast cancer and for the excellent results in early diagnosis, as well as for the spirit of self-denial and service that distinguished him and the self-denial and passion with which he always fought on the side of women and science».

These are the reasons that will be read during the traditional “Candle Ceremony” scheduled for tonight at 7 pm at Sa Mesa, in via Amsicora in Oristano. The award, conceived five years ago by Pupa Tarantini, aims to recognize women who stand out for generosity and commitment in their professional, family, artistic life or for actions of particular importance.

An award inspired by the historical figure of Eleonora d'Arborea, a symbol of justice and civil commitment. Another first will be awarded to Dr. Graziella Agus, "for her commitment to breast cancer prevention, for the spirit of service that distinguishes her daily work, for the human qualities that allow her to welcome and comfort many women every day in a moment of great fragility."

The third award will be for Luigia Armas, "for being a woman, mother, wife and reference figure in the family business according to solid principles of honesty and solidarity and for having been able to collect and disseminate the experience of her grandmother and mother in the art of leavening, baking and artistic creation of bread".

Very well known is “Su pai pintau” donated to the Pope on the occasion of the Jubilee of 2000. We also remember his collaboration with the University of Sassari for the experimentation of natural yeasts.
