Oristano, one of the deans of the firefighters retires: siren and tricolour in the square
Colleagues' farewell to Mario Barresi, who leaves the provincial command after 45 years on the front line: "Saving a human life is something special"Forty-five years always on the front line. Yesterday for one of the deans of the Oristano firefighters was the last day of work: Mario Barresi, 65, fire inspector retired. And his colleagues, as tradition dictates, greeted him in their own way with the sirens of the fire engines in operation, the tricolor and even fireworks.
A greeting full of affection and esteem to a person who in almost half a century has never spared himself to help and save people, put out fires and give his contribution to local communities.
Barresi recalled that he started in 1979: "You know, everything changed then, but not our commitment to people," he commented. " Saving a human life is something special. I thank my colleagues, the Oristano command and the Ministry of the Interior for allowing me to do the best job in the world."
