Oristano, house burglarized on August 15th: thief caught by video and fingerprints

The perpetrator of a burglary committed last August 15th inside the apartment of a well-known professional, right in the city center, has been identified: the State Police arrested a repeat offender living in a town in the province, already known to law enforcement for having committed numerous similar crimes.

The accused, taking advantage of the owners' absence, after unsuccessfully attempting to gain access to other apartments, had entered the apartment by forcing open the front door, which had not been properly locked, and had stolen, after ransacking the rooms, a large quantity of jewelry.

The positive outcome of the investigation was the result of thorough and rapid investigations conducted by Mobile Squad officers, who analyzed images recorded by the Oristano Municipality's video surveillance system and the one inside the targeted apartment building. Some fingerprints left by the thief were also crucial.

The jewels were recovered from his home and will be returned to their rightful owners in the next few days.
