Moments of fear this evening in Oristano due to a fire that broke out in a house in via Amsicora, between the districts of Sant'Efisio and Sacro Cuore. Only the quick reflexes of a soldier from the Sassari Brigade avoided the worst: the elderly couple was safe and sound (the husband is an invalid, stuck in a wheelchair), then thanks to the intervention of the firefighters the fire was been tamed even though the damage was extensive.
It all happened in just a few minutes. A spark from the fireplace landed on the sofa and in a few seconds the fire spread to the other furnishings in the kitchen. Agostino Pirastru, 51 years old, soldier of the fifth Macomer sapper engineer regiment who lives next to the house where the fire broke out: «When I arrived, the flames were increasingly threatening – he says – I went through the back, breaking a French window, I I helped the lady and her husband and then I tried to put out the fire with the hose but there was no electricity left. At that point, with the help of my 11-year-old son Carlo, I filled several buckets with water and we managed to contain the flames."
Excited and very tense moments until the arrival of the firefighters who completely put out the fire and made the kitchen safe, which suffered considerable damage. No consequences but only a huge scare for the elderly couple who risked being trapped.
