For years, he had abused a young girl . Today in court, prosecutor Silvia Mascia requested a 10-year sentence for a 60-year-old man from Oristano accused of sexual assault on a minor , while a referral to trial was requested for his 38-year-old friend (who abused the girl on another occasion).
In a closed-door hearing, the prosecutor reconstructed the abuse, which began when the girl was just 11 years old . Her "generous" and almost wealthy neighbor (compared to the extremely poor standard of living she was accustomed to with her mother) had begun to show her attention. He welcomed her into the house where he lived with his wife, gave her small gifts, and never let her go without food. In return, however, he made these approaches that were anything but affectionate and amounted to squalid abuse . This situation continued for five years until the girl, thanks to her friends, found the strength to report it. Three years ago, she entered a pharmacy in Piazza Roma and asked for a mask. She called 1522 (the anti-violence hotline) and the pharmacist immediately understood what was happening and called the police.
The Flying Squad's investigations revealed that everyone, family members and neighbors, knew what was happening: the 60-year-old's wife, friends, and even the victim's mother, who, however, living in a state of profound social and cultural hardship, somehow tolerated the situation just to have a yogurt or some food at home .
Following the investigation, in addition to the 60-year-old man (defended by lawyers Gianfranco Siuni and Claudia Piroddu), the girl's mother was also brought to trial on charges of slander . The 66-year-old woman, represented by lawyer Romina Marongiu, chose to plead guilty to a sentence of one year and two months. The 60-year-old man offered €800 in compensation, which the civil plaintiffs, Valerio Martis and Ezio Ullasci, accepted, reserving the right to pursue civil proceedings to obtain more appropriate compensation. Sentence will be issued on April 24.
