Worn children's high chairs, but also an old and dirty stroller and bags and boxes full of stuff to dress. Many have mistaken the collection point of the Caritas headquarters in Oristano, the former church of San Paolo, for an eco-centre. The complaint comes from the manager Maria Antonietta Dessì: «This is not donating but abandoning. This means not having respect for those who need help but also for us volunteers who sort the clothing. Nothing should be left outside the venue, at the mercy of everyone. Anyone who acts in this way is uncivilized and must be stopped."
A phenomenon that has been going on in the city for too long, despite the presence of the sign posted on the door of the office in Via Versilia which indicates both that nothing can be left on the street but also the opening hours of the office for the delivery of clothes to be donated . But we also read that there is a video surveillance system in those parts and that anyone who leaves the bags outside the door risks a fine.
«Often the bags are opened by animals - explains Dessì - and what could have helped those in difficulty turns into waste. Clothes often get damaged by heat or rain. I don't understand the reason for all this." Now the collection center closes for the entire month of August and for the first week of September: «Unfortunately it is very hot inside the room, that's why we are taking a break - concludes Dessì - There is a sign with all the information. I hope the entrance doesn't turn into a pile of rubbish."
