They brought asbestos from the central areas of the city to the suburbs, where they dumped it without taking the precautions required by law.

The environmental team of the local police of Oristano has reported two people for illicit management of hazardous waste. The officers' checks confirmed the removal of asbestos "ondulin" sheets which were transported and dumped in an area on the outskirts of the city . An extremely dangerous material for humans and the environment, which must be treated according to standards and measures that were not adopted by the people reported.

Another citizen who repeatedly abandoned the waste produced in her home near the fire escape of the courthouse in Piazza Aldo Moro was also sanctioned with a fine of 250 euros . The woman was "pinned" after various stakeouts carried out by the officers in the early hours of the morning.

The mayor Massimiliano Sanna and the councilor for the environment Maria Bonaria Zedda underline that «respect for the environmental resource must become a moral obligation for every citizen. As well as being a fact of civilisation, it is now a duty that we all must adhere to. Faced with many citizens who respect the rules and a municipal administration that invests huge resources to guarantee urban decorum and hygiene, there is a minority that, in defiance of the most basic rules of civil coexistence, does not worry about the damage it can cause to the environment and urban decor ".
