There were moments of fear this morning in a park in Oristano. Two pit bulls attacked a small dog out for a walk with its owner, who reported the incident to the police.

It all happened around 9:30 a.m., in the garden on Via Palestrina . "I went down to the garden below my house for a short walk with my dog, who was obviously on a leash," says Bendetta Pulga. In the distance, she glimpsed the pit bulls (one was off the leash), and within seconds all hell broke loose. "One of the two dogs, who was roaming free, pounced on my Milo," she says. "It all happened so quickly. I tried to pull him out of his fury, and initially I thought I'd succeeded by picking him up."

But that wasn't the case: the pitbull kept jumping on her in an attempt to reach the little dog. "At a certain point, he fell from my arms, and at that moment the other animal that had escaped from the owner also arrived and immediately pounced," she continues. "Those were terrible moments, I really feared for my Milo ." Eventually, the pitbull owners arrived and managed to free the little dog from that grip.

In her attempt to free Milo, Benedetta Pulga suffered a bite to her hand and a torn tendon. Her four-legged friend suffered a back injury, and the shock is difficult to shake. "I filed a complaint with the Carabinieri because what happened is very serious," commented Benedetta Pulga. "These people routinely walk their dogs without the proper precautions, and it's unacceptable. It's not 'bad luck,' but irresponsibility."

Finally, the appeal is addressed to everyone, especially pet owners. "I ask you to be careful and, above all, never underestimate the issue," the 28-year-old reiterates. "Dogs, especially large ones, must be kept on a leash and muzzled. We should expect the same of others."
