Ninety people checked, reports, notifications to the Prefecture and fines: these are just some of the results of the blanket checks carried out by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Cagliari. The objective? Prevent and combat crimes and situations of degradation linked to the so-called bad nightlife. The operation, called “Setaccio”, saw the Carabinieri patrols engaged in night checks, with interventions related to the possession of drugs and weapons, and numerous sanctions.

From 6pm yesterday to 4am this morning, the military personnel of the Carabinieri Stations of Villanova, Sant'Avendrace, San Bartolomeo, Pirri and Pula, with the decisive support of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of Cagliari, subjected over 90 people to checks , reporting three of them to the Judicial Authority and reporting four others to the Prefecture for possession of narcotic substances intended for personal use.

In particular, a 22-year-old woman living in Villasimius was caught with a 12-centimeter-long switchblade knife , while another 28-year-old man living in Cagliari was found with a knife of the same type, 15 centimeters long. Both were reported for unjustified possession of weapons. In addition, a 31-year-old man from Pula was reported for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing . He was in fact found in possession of a gram of cocaine, already divided into four doses ready for sale, in addition to the sum of 240 euros in cash, packaging material and two precision scales.

Also within the scope of the same service, four individuals were reported to the Prefecture for personal use of narcotics : a 31-year-old Gambian, resident in Cagliari, found with four grams of hashish; a 45-year-old Moroccan, also resident in the city, in possession of one gram of the same substance; a young 20-year-old Tunisian, found with seven Lyrica tablets held without a medical prescription; and finally a 21-year-old from Cagliari, caught with 3.45 grams of cocaine.

In addition to the checks on the territory, the Carabinieri – with the support of the Local Police of Cagliari and the Labor inspectors – carried out targeted checks in some public places, finding several irregularities.

In particular, violations related to the unauthorized use of audio systems, in contrast with the laws on noise pollution, were found in a café on Via Roma. Furthermore, problems emerged in personnel management, including the failure to communicate the presence of occasional self-employed workers and irregularities in the Risk Assessment Document, mandatory for workplace safety.

A similar situation also occurred in another venue on Viale Trieste, where in addition to violations for the sound system, an illegal worker was also found. This led to the immediate suspension of the business and the application of further sanctions.
