“Mare Secure 2021”, the operation involving the personnel of the Port Authorities - Coast Guard along the national coasts to ensure the safety of activities at sea and on the beaches, has closed.

Started on 19 June, it involved the section from Arbatax to Bosa under the responsibility of the Cagliari Maritime Directorate with 250 soldiers, 30 naval units and more than 20 land vehicles as well as two "Nemo" helicopters under the 4th Helicopter Section of the Coast Guard, based in Decimomannu.

The control activity took the form of rescue and relief activities: 136 people were rescued, 63 were rescued, 12 thousand checks were carried out and 289 offenses were detected. A decreasing trend when compared with the other years.

"A summer of safety, which has shown a significant decrease, compared to previous years, in our rescue interventions and serious accidents at sea", confirmed Admiral Nicola Carlone, commander general of the Corps of the Capitanerie di port.

And also the Maritime Director of Cagliari, Captain Mario Valente, said he was satisfied with the results of the operation that saw the Cagliari Coast Guard soldiers engaged in the territory.
