It reopens its doors today and its tables will welcome dozens of people in need: the soup kitchen on Via Canova in Olbia, run by the Vincenziano volunteer group led by president Tiziana Marzocca, has resumed operations after all its food supplies were stolen on Christmas Eve, after lunch had been served to over eighty people.

Whoever emptied the pantry may have entered through a corridor connecting the dining room to the dormitory area: no signs of forced entry were found on the main doors , and the facility is not equipped with a video surveillance system. Oil, meat, preserves, and hams—all the foods that numerous donors had donated to the Vincentian Sisters so they could provide comforting meals, even during the Christmas holidays—were stolen, leaving the group of volunteers in despair.

News of this vile act, however, has spread online, reported on social media by the parish priest of San Simplicio, Don Antonio Tamponi, and reshared by dozens of people, including many mayors and local associations, who have jointly launched an appeal for more food donations. So today, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the Cittadella della Carità on Via dello Zaffiro will host a collection of goods to be used in the soup kitchen.
