Wind and extreme temperatures are paralyzing traffic at Olbia airport in these hours.

On the Costa Smeralda runway, the thermometer reached peaks of 47 degrees, a temperature which, combined with the mistral wind that has been blowing over Gallura since this morning, creates conditions that have led almost all companies to divert flights arriving in Alghero and Cagliari or delay departures even if the airport is technically open.

The easyJet flight from Paris landed in Alghero, while the one from Malpensa was diverted to Elmas. All flights arriving and departing in the afternoon are delayed, easyJet has also canceled the plane to Malpensa (which is stopped in Cagliari). There is confidence in a drop in temperatures in the evening but the situation could be complicated by a fire that broke out in the afternoon.

The particular atmospheric condition also caused a thick blanket of fog over the sea which enveloped part of the coast and the islands.
