A great opportunity for the entire region to discuss space economy topics. The third edition of the Aerospace Festival was presented this morning at the UniOlbia headquarters. Sustainability is at the heart of the event: from October 16th to 18th, the Archaeological Museum will host discussions on space food, the development of the sector in Sardinia, synergies with the marine economy, the Einstein Telescope (and much more) with leading experts in the sector and supply chains.

Ten conferences are planned, 101 educational workshops aimed at primary and secondary schools, three exhibitions including astrophotography, space food, and an astronaut's suit, as well as three special events to engage the public with original and interactive experiences, and finally, a large networking exhibition area dedicated to companies, startups, research institutions, and universities.

The event is growing , increasingly becoming a national benchmark. "This third edition is driven by enthusiasm and motivation to offer our young people knowledge in a highly innovative sector with job opportunities. This represents Astec's mission," says director Marilisa Pischedda, founder of the association that conceived and promoted the Festival , "to bring the world of aerospace closer to young people and citizens. Speakers, including those from abroad, ask us to participate. One example is the Italian Space Agency, which will be present for three days, along with its director general, and will offer us an educational workshop."

The guest of honor on Friday the 17th will be Roberto Vittori, an Italian Air Force and European Space Agency astronaut, with whom he will be connected to the ESA Training Center in Germany. The event is strongly supported by the Municipality of Olbia.

"Special attention will be given to students and families, who will be the focus of educational programs and activities designed to introduce the new generations to the world of space and its concrete impact on the future of society," said Sabrina Serra, Councilor for Education and Culture. "The Festival represents an important opportunity for training and orientation for the professions of the future. It is the event that brings together Astec's work throughout the year, including workshops and activities in schools."

In this regard, during the Festival, the awards ceremony for the ideas competition launched by Astec , on sustainability in space and on Earth, was held. Aimed at university students and doctoral students, nine submissions were received from all over Italy .

On Saturday the 18th, the spotlight will be on the Einstein Telescope : Governor Alessandra Todde is expected to speak about the major European project for the study of gravitational waves, which includes Sardinia as a potential host. The Aerospace Festival partners with Cipnes Gallura. "The themes of this year's event are very rich and will provide an opportunity to address strategic issues for the development of the region," says Aldo Carta, president of the university consortium and director of Cipnes. "It's a project that has the ability to read and anticipate the future and development issues, and a great opportunity for growth and education for the younger generations, as well as for the older ones, to learn about the projects that will be introduced for the growth of the region."
