Alarm in Olbia due to repeated cases of pets injured, even seriously, by gunshots.

The mayor Settimo Nizzi reported them, explaining in a note: «In recent weeks, regrettable acts have occurred in which defenseless animals have been victims. The case of a poor hunting dog wounded in the muzzle by a rifle is emblematic. When he was found and taken to the Olbia kennel, he was also malnourished and dehydrated, probably because he wandered around for days without being able to drink or eat. We don't know what happened to him: it could have been a shot aimed at him or an accident on a hunting trip that reduced him like this, but even in this second hypothesis the owner should have immediately entrusted him to the care of a veterinarian."

The first Citizen continues by reporting another fact: «A domestic kitten was found by its owners wounded on its hind legs, also in this case with traces of shotgun pellets».

«We severely condemn – continues Nizzi – these regrettable acts carried out by beings who cannot be defined as human, but uncivilized and heartless monsters. There are those who speak of "braves" when children commit certain acts: we believe that there are no excuses for such actions and that civic education and respect for life must be transmitted to all ages, by families and institutions".

«These events – concludes the mayor – deeply affect all of us and we hope that those responsible will be brought to justice. Actions of such brutal violence do not belong to our community, which has always been sensitive and active towards causes that concern animals and nature in general."
