After completing the parbuckling operations (vertical re-arrangement) a few hours ago, Atina, previously lying on one side, has resumed its natural position, still, however, lying on the eight-metre seabed where it sank on 10 August after being devoured by flames off the Le Saline beach in Olbia.
Having begun last Thursday with an underwater inspection to assess the conditions of the site and the yacht, this afternoon the recovery operations of the 47-metre yacht, flying the Cork Island flag, after being refloated, continue with the emptying of the stagnant water inside and this evening the wreck will be on board the Conquest MB1, the pontoon also used to remove the Costa Concordia ship.
Positioned on the 136-meter long floating platform, what remains of the yacht worth 16 million euros, will be inspected by the Coast Guard tomorrow to conclude the identification of the causes of the shipwreck, whose investigations are still ongoing. The site cleanup operations are scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, which will begin tomorrow with the cleaning of the seabed carried out with the help of 3D scans. Around forty people are working to recover Atina, which caught fire on the night of San Lorenzo.
