Almost two quintals of meat, seeds, tropical fruit and vegetables, in poor condition, without labels and any safety information, coming from different parts of the world.

This is what was found – and seized – in passengers' luggage between 2024 and the first months of 2025 by the Olbia Group's Finance Police, in synergy with the officials of the Sassari Customs and Monopolies Agency , in service at the “Costa Smeralda” airport of the Gallura city.

The seized foods, potentially dangerous due to the risk of the presence of harmful organisms and infesting pathogens, were found inside the suitcases of travellers arriving in Olbia – after stopovers in intercontinental hubs of the Peninsula, especially from countries in North and Central Africa, China, the Middle and Far East and South America.
