Acquitted for not having committed the crime. Ten years after the investigation began, pensioner Mario Decandia, 88, was cleared of the charge of having fired a shotgun at the home of Olbia resident Salvatore Fideli.

The charge was attempted murder, for events that occurred in 2016 in Lu Picurili (between Loiri and Olbia). Only in one case did the bullet not hit Fideli, who was inside his house for dinner. The judges of the Tempio Tribunal accepted the thesis of Decandia's lawyer, criminal lawyer Giampaolo Murrighile. The pensioner has always rejected the accusation of having attempted to kill Fideli.

The reconstruction of the facts is disturbing: the person who fired the shotgun, hitting a window, was wearing a balaclava. The motive would be a disagreement over transit and hunting on private land.

The prosecutor had dropped the attempted murder charge, changing it to threats and had asked not to proceed due to the statute of limitations. Instead, the judges decided on the merits, exonerating Decandia.
