With the increase in passenger traffic, customs controls at Olbia Costa Smeralda airport are intensified.

Officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) of the Olbia Operations Section have identified, in recent days, two travelers who tried to introduce undeclared currency for a total of 60,974.67 euros.

The first, Russian, was arriving on a direct flight from the United Arab Emirates and the second from Switzerland.

The officials recall that the legislation "establishes the obligatory nature of the customs declaration for transfers of cash equal to or greater than 10,000 euros".

The transgressors «have availed themselves of the institution of the oblation, as foreseen by the art. 7 of Legislative Decree 195/2008, providing for the total payment of penalties for 7,230.83 euros».
