Offshore Wind Farms . The Alghero Lions Club has scheduled a conference for Friday 21 April in the great hall of the Roth Institute in via Diez, in collaboration with Marevivo Sardegna, to take stock of one of the hot topics of the ecological transition: the construction of production plants of renewable energy and, more specifically , offshore wind farms off the coast of Sardinia .

According to the plans of the previous Draghi government, Sardinia has been identified as the Italian region that will have to host 1/6 of the plants for the production of energy from renewable sources envisaged throughout the Italian territory . The recent firm positions taken by numerous mayors, their respective communities and some associations that contest the projects highlight, in fact, how important it is that the authorization process for these plants is as respectful as possible of all the interests in the field , no one excluding.

The conference, moderated by Lion Giovanni Congiu, contact person for the environment, will be opened with the greetings and introduction of the director of the Roth Institute Angelo Parodi, the regional manager of Marevivo Giorgio Culazzu, the president of the Lions Club Alghero Marco Di Gangi and Emanuele Beccu, Chief of Cabinet of the Councilor for the Defense of the Environment of the Region of Sardinia. Andrea Sulis of the University of Sassari will deal with the theme of climate-environmental analyzes and studies for the identification of sites . Luigi Severini of Studio Severini will then discuss the merits of the construction of wind power plants , from the design idea to construction, with specific reference to the Taranto plant, the first and, for now, the only offshore wind plant in Italy, whose design and realization Studio Severini oversaw. Giovanni De Falco of the CNR will develop the issue relating to geological risks and environmental criticalities of offshore wind farms .

The delicate issue of the possible integration of Protected Areas and renewable energy production plants , however, will be analyzed by Mariano Mariani, director of the Porto Conte Park. The last intervention is reserved for the mayor of Alghero Mario Conoci who will analyze the controversial issue on the completely marginal role of Local Authorities in the decision-making processes for the construction of plants for the production of renewable energy and the claimed concertation with local communities.

The task of drawing conclusions will be entrusted to Carmen Di Penta general manager of Marevivo Italia. Some classes of the Roth Higher Education Institute will participate in the work, as part of the school-work alternation and civic education activities.
