There were moments of fear this morning in Nurallao, where two workers carrying out routine maintenance work for the Municipality, as part of the Lavoras project, were suddenly attacked by a swarm of wasps.

The two were moving a large stone along a dirt road when they inadvertently disturbed a nest hidden in the ground.

The immediate attack by the insects resulted in multiple bites to both of them, but for one of them the consequences were far more serious: he went into anaphylactic shock. Only the timely intervention of the 118 emergency medical personnel prevented the worst. Stabilized on site, the worker received medical attention.

At the moment, his condition is improving and his vital signs are normalizing.

He is expected to be transferred by air ambulance to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari for further tests and treatment.
