The water crisis in Nuoro continues to cause disruptions throughout the city. Today, Thursday, October 2nd, some schools were forced to cancel classes and send students home early due to lack of water or low pressure.

The disruption has been ongoing for over 48 hours and is impacting essential services and businesses. Confcommercio and Confesercenti have announced their intention to collect reports of damages suffered by individual businesses and then hand them over to a lawyer. The goal is to assess compensation claims against the water utility company.

On the school front, administrators are calling for structural interventions: calls for tenders must be launched as soon as possible to provide schools with water reserves capable of ensuring continuity of operations even in the event of future service disruptions. Meanwhile, Abbanoa has announced new scheduled water shutoffs, necessary—according to the official statement—to address low levels in city reservoirs, exacerbated by the heavy consumption following the reactivation of the service.

"Following yesterday's failure on the Jann'e Ferru aqueduct and the high consumption since the service was reactivated," Abbanoa explains, "there are still low levels in the storage tanks and, consequently, difficulties ensuring adequate pressure across the 102 kilometers of the city's water network, with particular problems in the terminal sections and the highest areas."

For this reason, the operator has scheduled two nighttime service shutdowns to allow water levels to recover and secure the network: Thursday, October 2nd: shutdown from 8:30 PM to 5:30 AM and Friday, October 3rd: shutdown from 10:00 PM to 5:30 AM. The shutdowns will affect the entire Nuoro area, including the Prato Sardo industrial area, the hamlet of Lollove, and Monte Ortobene. This situation continues to exasperate residents.
