A timely resolution of the water supply problems for the approximately twenty livestock farms operating in the “ Sa Serra ” area, which were seriously damaged and affected by the recent fire that pulverized over a thousand hectares of woodland, Mediterranean scrub and, above all, pastures.

Propositive meeting

With these objectives, a meeting was held in Nuoro between the provincial leaders of Coldiretti and the commissioner of the Municipality of Nuoro, Giovanni Pirisi, in the presence of the commander of the Municipal Police, Massimiliano Zurru. "We thank the commissioner for the sensitivity and willingness shown to support a driving sector of our local economy - underlines the director of Coldiretti Nuoro-Ogliastra, Alessandro Serra - we are happy that the response of the commissioner was positive, confirming the will to meet the needs of the producers involved and guarantee the continuation of the activities for the coming months".

The process

The hoped-for answers came from the meeting in Nuoro. After all, the countryside is suffering, overwhelmed by fires and drought. In particular, one aspect was agreed upon at the meeting: the procedure for mapping companies and water resources will be followed, in order to organize a collection center along the affected route and based on individual needs. "Now we hope that the timing can be quick to allow companies to be supported in the procurement of resources", concludes Alessandro Serra. For the president of Coldiretti Nuoro-Ogliastra, Leonardo Salis, "the timeliness of the interventions is essential to help the companies involved overcome the serious problems as soon as possible, so as not to lose all their work".
