A protected courtroom in the Nuoro court where the minor or the "vulnerable" subject will be heard with the help of a psychologist during a hearing or evidentiary incident for crimes such as sexual abuse or mistreatment. But also a place where the minor will be heard in delicate civil proceedings that concern him.
Today the inauguration of the space took place in the premises of the Nuoro Court where civil collegial hearings are held on the third floor, created from the former caretaker's apartment which was renovated and connected to the courtroom with an audio video system.
Present were the president of the court Mauro Pusceddu, the representatives of the Italian association of lawyers for the family and for minors who donated the furnishings, Soroptimist, who donated the entrance door, and the students, the principal Silvia Meloni and the teachers of the Francesco Ciusa Higher Institute, who donated the works of art that decorate the classroom.
Explaining the importance of the newly inaugurated courtroom was President Pusceddu, who in his speech underlined that before today minors were heard in other courts on the island. The new premises responds to international protocols with a separate entrance from that of the court and in which the constitutional value of the right of defense will be guaranteed: those accused of serious crimes will be able to examine, through their lawyer, those who accusation even if minor. The same constitutional value will be guaranteed for the alleged victims and for the judge who decides.
The victim will in fact be interviewed in a peaceful environment, without direct meetings with the suspect, without pressure or pollution that would make the statement falsifiable when examined by cross-examination.
