A 16-year-old boy was injured this evening in the gardens of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele in Nuoro due to the sudden collapse of a marble bench . According to an initial reconstruction, while the boy was sitting, a slab of the base came off, ending up on his right foot and causing him trauma.

The minor was rescued by 118 personnel and transported to the hospital. His conditions are not serious, but he suffered bruises on his right foot, which will undergo further tests.

The local police and firefighters intervened on site. The agents are viewing the images from the video surveillance cameras in the area to clarify the dynamics of the accident and verify whether there was improper use of the structure or a collapse due to deterioration.

The firefighters also requested that the area be cordoned off and that the other three marble benches in the gardens be checked , to ensure their safety and prevent further incidents.
