The demographic collapse, the flight of young people and the dream of the Einstein Telescope . Nuoro faces critical issues and future prospects by choosing a new mayor and putting an end to the administration of the Municipality that began a year ago.

The merciless trend that certifies the collapse of residents, gone from over 36,500 in 2010 to about 32 thousand today, remains in the background of an electoral campaign characterized by a smaller army of candidates than other times and by the search for a way towards relaunching that overcomes the emergencies suffered in recent times: from the endless commissioners of symbolic cultural centers, such as the university and the Satta library, to the heavy downsizing of the San Francesco hospital, emblem of the decadent phase of a city of services in an identity crisis.

Giuseppe Luigi Cucca heads a civic alliance, renamed “Solo Nuoro”, which is supported by the Psd'Az and the center-right parties although they renounce their respective symbols and names: six lists and 126 aspiring councilors. Lisetta Bidoni runs with “Progetto per Nuoro”, a civic formation with 24 candidates. Domenico Mele with “Democrazia sovrana popolare” is betting on a list of 16 candidates to dismantle the current system.
