The family doctor isn't there. Not even high school. Sometimes there is also no ATM at the post office. A bank? I don't even want to talk about it. To enjoy a service you often have to travel kilometers. By car, because the internal connections have never been organised.

These are just some of the elements of the scenario that leads to the depopulation of the villages in the interior of Sardinia. Residents emigrate: sometimes outside, more often towards Sardinian cities.

The phenomenon was photographed by Istat. At a regional level, emigration in general - understood in this case as the movement from one's center of residence - concerns 21 inhabitants per thousand, a figure slightly below the Italian average (26). When moving, in most cases, the journey is short. Compared to other southern regions, Sardinia has a high rate of travel to the provincial capital cities.
