"It is necessary to foresee and schedule an energetic and immediate pest control campaign accompanied by prevention, awareness and communication actions to minimize the dangers linked to the spread of Nile Fever". This is what the mayor of Oristano, Massimiliano Sanna asks, through a note, who appeals to the Region underlining the seriousness of the situation in the city linked to the spread of the West Nile Disease virus.

The appeal of the mayor follows the 5 cases registered in the city in recent days.

Sanna and the Councilor for the Environment Maria Bonaria Zedda, this morning, sent the communication to the President of the Region Christian Solinas and to the Councilors for the Environment Gianni Lampis and for Health Mario Nieddu . "In Oristano, to date, as many as 5 infections of Nile Fever have been ascertained - write the mayor Sanna and the commissioner Zedda - It is necessary and urgent to know what measures and initiatives the Region has planned to counter the spread of the virus".
In recent days, the topic was at the center of a meeting of the Regional Crisis Unit which was also attended by Mayor Sanna and Councilor Zedda: "At that time, together with the other institutional subjects concerned, the seriousness of the of the situation and at the same time of the need to intervene promptly to protect public health. Considering the difficulties of the Province to ensure rapid and widespread intervention in public lands, but also the difficulty of intervening in private land, it is necessary that the Region plans a extraordinary pest control campaign on public and private land. The Municipality is ready to field every available resource and we are sure that the other bodies involved are ready to do the same, but the complexity and vastness of the territory require a higher level intervention, appropriately supported by economic and organizational resources that only the Region p can insure quickly ".
