A musical greeting that combines tradition and accessibility, artistic quality and festive spirit, in the spirit of great Italian opera.

On Thursday, January 1st, at 8:30 pm, the Teatro Civico Gavino Ballero hosts the New Year's Eve Opera Gala with "A Toast to 2026 in Music." The stars of the show are Sassari soprano Francesca Sassu and tenor Valerio Borgioni , both seasoned performers well-known to local and national audiences. At the piano is Alghero-born maestro Riccardo Pinna, with artistic direction entrusted to maestro Irene Dore. The program explores some of the most celebrated works of Italian and international opera, offering an accessible and engaging musical journey, combining interpretive rigor and a celebratory atmosphere. The event is part of the Contrapunctum association's Echi Armonici program and is promoted by the Ars Aurelia association.

The Gala represents one of the most important events of the Cap d'Any de l'Alguer, promoted by the Alghero Foundation and the Municipality of Alghero. Francesca Sassu has established herself for her work combining theater and concerts, while Valerio Borgioni is now among the most highly regarded Italian tenors of his generation, regularly performing at major Italian and international opera houses. The concert, free of charge, is part of the tradition of New Year's Eve opera galas, using opera music to celebrate the holidays and national culture. "Bringing this format to Alghero means strengthening the city's role as a hub for cultural production and dissemination," emphasized Irene Dore, highlighting the Teatro Civico as a meeting place for audiences, artists, and the local community.
