The controls of the local police in Sassari have intensified on the territory since the beginning of December but on New Year's Eve they will be further strengthened.

Checks will be carried out on the psycho-physical state of the driver, on the improper use of mobile phones, both for pedestrians and for motorists, on compliance with speed limits and on the use of seat belts and other restraint systems at board (including the use of child seats).

And, again, traffic police posts equipped with breathalyzers will be set up in the city, with the aim of preventing and repressing drunk driving.

The activities will develop without interruption until Epiphany, the day in which the local Police, as well as the Fire Brigade, will organize the traditional initiatives for children in Piazza d'Italia.

Also on 6 January, the agents of the Via Carlo Felice Headquarters, together with the motorcyclists of the "Vespa Club" association , who will turn into witches for the occasion, will deliver the socks to the young patients of the pediatric neuropsychiatry department of the hospital in Viale Saint Peter.

Before Christmas, the local police had already donated toys collected to about 300 children thanks to a solidarity competition in which agents, local entrepreneurs and many citizens took part.
