Appeal from the president of Cagliari Calcio Tommaso Giulini in a letter to the Region and, for information, to the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and, therefore, to the minister of sport Andrea Abodi.

Objective: to obtain the green light from Villa Devoto for the new Gigi Riva stadium , also with the 50 million to be given to the Municipality.

«We would like to reiterate - we read in the letter - how the timely formalization of the program agreement is more essential than ever , not only in light of the recent decision of the UEFA Executive Committee to accept the candidacy presented jointly by the Italian Football Federation and Turkish Football Federation by identifying Italy and Turkey as host nations of the 2032 European Championships , but above all for the well-known social and strategic value that the new stadium project covers in the important urban redevelopment of the Sant'Elia district , eliminating frustration once and for all , the inconvenience and humiliation that thousands of Sardinian sports enthusiasts have been experiencing for years, finding themselves having to make do with a "temporary" facility in their regional capital city."

The urgent reminder refers to the deadline of 30 November 2023 "deadline for any preparatory and necessary measures for the purposes of signing the program agreement".

Giulini, in fact, wants to "avoid the risk" that the Municipality of Cagliari and the rossoblù club, "each in their own right, are prevented from carrying out the intervention, with any consequent prejudice to the image of the Sardinia Region ".
