The project for the new 25,000-seat Cagliari stadium named after Gigi Riva was presented this morning at the services conference held in the Municipality, with the interested parties connected online.

This is the first of a series of technical and operational meetings, which should lead to the elaboration of the definitive project by next autumn.

"We presented a plan that in these two years has been followed step by step by the entities to which we illustrated it today", explains Daniele Olla, manager of the strategic works service of the Municipality . Who adds: «Someone has already given a favorable opinion, others have asked for additions. But these are technical-engineering issues, only details».

For example, the Region , with the Office for the Protection of the Landscape, has asked to provide a "view" of the new stadium from the sea , while the Superintendency has asked for insights into some of the panels envisaged by the project.

The Municipality will prepare the required additions, then the conference can be reconvened. Two other procedures are ongoing in parallel. The first is the one that will have to lead to the release of the former Via, the environmental impact assessment, now incorporated in the Paur, a single regional authorization measure. The second is linked to the release of the program agreement with the Region which also provides for the construction of a hospital and a student residence.

So far the meetings between viale Trento and via Roma have not produced results.

With the Region insisting on the hospital and the Municipality inviting Solinas to give precise indications on the type of area required for the construction of the new healthcare centre.

The Town Hall technicians had provided a list of areas of at least 15 hectares, alternatives to the Sant'Elia area, where Cagliari's new home should be built, but that was not enough for the Region. A beating and repeating that, between controversies and requests for explanations, may not arrive at any solution. At stake are the 50 million euros that the Region should turn over to the stadium. But that Truzzu, in the event of no agreement, could look elsewhere, perhaps from the government.

In the meantime, UEFA, in view of the choice of stadiums for the eventual 2032 European Championship, has asked for guarantees from the Municipality. And Palazzo Bacaredda responded by providing reassurances on the times.

Tomorrow - barring unforeseen events - a new meeting between the Region and the Municipality is scheduled.
