An adult male specimen of mouflon was found dead in recent days by LIPU volunteers in Golfo Aranci . The animal had bite marks on its neck and legs and, according to some witnesses who then spoke to the volunteers, the cause of its death would have been stray dogs found in the Civil Engineering area.

The body of the mouflon was then transported from the barracks of Golfo Aranci to the Bonassai Wildlife Recovery Center of the Forestas Agency, where an autopsy was performed.

It is not the first specimen of mouflon to be found lifeless in Golfo Aranci , probably the victim of an attack by stray dogs. On 26 June the body of a female mouflon was found near the coast. For this reason , Lipu filed a complaint with the competent authority , underlining the serious situation of the mouflons at Capo Figari, a protected area and special protection zone.

"We ask that investigations be initiated to ascertain any responsibility and that the appropriate measures be taken to avoid damage to the fauna in the future, given the small population, and to prevent stray dogs from creating danger, as well as for the fauna, also for people», reads a note released by Francesco Guillot, Lipu regional coordinator.
