The sheepfolds and farmhouses scattered around the Cagliari hinterland continue to be one of the most used hiding places for concealing illegal weapons.

This is confirmed by the latest data released by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Cagliari , which report that since the beginning of the year over 300 firearms – pistols, rifles, ammunition and explosives – and bladed weapons – knives and similar – have been seized and confiscated during targeted patrols and searches.

"A marked increase in preventive activity," it is emphasized, "conducted with the support of specialized canine units for searching for weapons and explosives and for patrolling rural areas."

"The primary objective of these inspections," the Command continues, "was precisely to prevent any risk: not only by ensuring that proper security measures were adopted and providing helpful suggestions, but also by verifying that the legal requirements were rigorously and consistently adhered to."

Specifically, 242 firearms and 62 bladed weapons were identified during the checks. "These," the Carabinieri emphasize, " weapons were found during specific operational operations, seized, or confiscated pursuant to Article 39 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security (TULPS) for reasons of public safety . This is a crucial measure for preemptively defusing potential dangers, even preventing the mere risk of using weapons in all those situations where the Carabinieri intervene in relation to domestic or neighborly conflicts, thus preventing the commission of serious crimes."

"The complex control and prevention activities were conducted," specifies Provincial Commander Brigadier General Luigi Grasso , "in constant and fruitful synergy with the qualified Firearms Office of the Cagliari Police Headquarters, within the framework of the integrated model between the police forces and under the careful and coordinated guidance of the Prefect of Cagliari, Dr. Paola Dessì . In addition to fulfilling the institutional duties that the force carries out daily to uphold the law, this widespread surveillance and prevention activity represents a concrete guarantee for the safety and peace of mind of citizens."
