Released into the sea on 6 May in San Giovanni di Sinis, the Graziella turtle, an example of caretta caretta, has already traveled 190 kilometres. And that's fine: the location off Capo Spartivento was possible thanks to the resumption of the satellite tracking project carried out as part of the activities of the regional network for the conservation of marine fauna, coordinated by the Department of the Environment, under the supervision scientific research of the Cnr.

Graziella had been recovered in September in serious condition in the waters of Sant'Elmo, in Castiadas, by two sport fishermen, who had delivered her to the care of the specialists of the protected marine area of Capo Carbonara. With the usual relay, she had been taken to the Duemari Veterinary Clinic in Oristano: after seven months of maintenance, monitoring and rehabilitation at the CReS-Recovery Center of Sinis, and the removal of the nylon line that was inside the stomach, « the specimen has recovered all its motor, physiological and behavioral abilities».

Now the turtle is free again, descending towards the usual migration routes. The activity transmitted by the device mounted on the carapace showed regular and frequent apneas on surfacing, a sign of the perfect recovery of the turtle's health.
