Sentenced to 3 years and 8 months. This is the sentence handed down today in court in Sassari by a panel presided over by Giancosimo Mura, with Monia Adami and Stefania Mosca-Angelucci on his flanks, against a 43-year-old man from Mores. According to the charges, in 2019, the man robbed and assaulted a 40-year-old Nigerian man, who worked for him in a sheepfold as a servant shepherd . The latter was also charged with assault and possession of a weapon but was acquitted.

Seven years ago, the non-EU citizen was found bleeding in Chilivani and reported being stabbed with a bribe and a knife by his employer during a fight in the car of the Sardinian man he had tried to escape. The reason for his escape was reportedly the failure to receive his wages or the regularization he expected after eight months of employment. During the altercation, according to the shepherd's version, his cell phone and identity documents were stolen at gunpoint. The entire incident allegedly occurred while the 43-year-old was accompanying the other man to Chilivani, a journey interrupted by the reported confrontation in which the foreigner bit the other man's finger in self-defense, resulting in a partial amputation.

The Sardinian, however, offered a different explanation, claiming that the man caused him to swerve while driving and then attacked him with a knife and a bribe. This version was reiterated today by defense attorney Gianluca Sannio, who reported what he believed to be the non-EU citizen's contradictions. "If my client had had the gun, there would have been no struggle," he stated, also recalling how his client immediately showed complete willingness to help law enforcement by handing over his documents. At the last hearing, prosecutor Maria Paola Asara had requested a seven-year prison sentence.
