In Monserrato, a 44-year-old man, currently residing at the Isili Penal Colony, was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of threats and resisting a public official.
The incident occurred while the man, on day release, was at his parents' house in the city centre.
The man, apparently under the influence of alcohol and drugs, was reportedly threatening to kill his mother while brandishing a knife.
The situation quickly escalated, leading the woman to fear for her life and ask for help.
Alerted by the call, the Carabinieri promptly arrived on the scene where, despite their presence, the man did not show any signs of wanting to stop. On the contrary, when he realized that 118 had also been alerted to provide him with the necessary medical care, he pointed the knife at the soldiers, further increasing the tension. However, thanks to the promptness and skill of the men of the Carabinieri, the 44-year-old was quickly disarmed and blocked, preventing the situation from degenerating further. Fortunately, no one was injured.
After being held in the security cells of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Cagliari, the man was transferred to the court for a summary trial.
