Monserrato: crane crashes to the university citadel

Tragedy touched the university citadel of Monserrato, where around 4 pm a crane ended up on the pier that joins two blocks of the same citadel. Nobody was hurt.

In the offices there were students and employees of the University. The fright is understandable. The police from Monserrato and Quartu arrived on the spot for the legal remarks and to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident. In the meantime, the area has been fenced off and closed to the public.

It gave way to the ground under the hydraulic foot plate of the crane, which collapsed, even if slightly, caused the heavy crane to tilt.

This is the reconstruction made by the carabinieri. There was no construction in progress at the time of the accident. The crane had been parked, when suddenly there was a subsidence of the ground and the floor on a surface limited to the plate on which the hydraulic foot of the same crane rested.

In the evening, a second large vehicle arrived on site and began to remove the damaged crane, which had been engaged in energy efficiency work.

The investigations were carried out by the carabinieri coordinated by captain Gianni Russo, by lieutenant Ignazio Cabras and by marshal Pietropaolo Sabiu.
