A motion in support of the families of the victims and the associations of 10 April and 140, regarding recent developments and new commitments to ask for clarity on the Moby Prince massacre. It was presented in recent months to the Birori municipal council by councilor Orazio Culeddu and approved unanimously by all councilors.

«This is a civil and moral duty, as well as an institutional one, from which our Municipality and all of Sardinia cannot exempt themselves», explains councilor Culeddu, «a massacre which cannot go unpunished and which, moreover, affects us from close: among those 140 victims there are also 30 Sardinians, many of them very young, like our Gianfranco Campus, the policeman from Birori who would have turned 21 the following month".

And also representing Gianfranco, councilor Culeddu was in Livorno on April 10th, on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the tragedy. «I was the only Sardinian to represent our Region», says Culeddu, «instead we need everyone's commitment. Let's help them by loudly asking for justice and truth, so that everyone has greater awareness of the historical truth of the impetuous massacre , which could have been written about a long time ago."

The motion also asks the Council to «take action towards Parliament so that a third parliamentary commission of inquiry is established, to arrive at an integral historical truth» and to consider the opportunity to raise awareness among all Sardinian municipal administrations and the Sardinia region, "so that it plays a more incisive role in the matter".

The awareness-raising activities of the municipality of Birori are therefore starting, with the presentation of Elisabetta Arrighi's book: “Moby Prince 1991-2022 The new truth”, scheduled for Wednesday 27 September at 10.30 am in the Maddalena Sanna council chamber in Birori. Speakers will include, among others, Luchino Chessa, son of Commander Ugo Chessa and president of the 10 April association.
