Yesterday at the University of Cagliari, today at that of Sassari which inaugurates the 461st academic year.

The minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini was received by the rector Gavino Mariotti and by the civil, military and religious authorities . Impressed by Ittiri's costumes and the university choir, whom she thanked for the musical welcome.

The minister thus answered the question on the decline in enrollments in Italian universities : "We are worried and we must also help those who want to continue their studies with scholarships". He then confirmed the work to increase the number of enrollments in the Faculty of Medicine by 20-30%, also intervening on specialization schools.

Finally, the minister reiterated the government's commitment to bring the Einstein Telescope to Lula.

THE RECTOR – Rector Gavino Mariotti made a substantial assessment of the activity carried out in the Aula Magna for the inauguration of the academic year.

Among the flagships is the project on the eINS innovation ecosystem conceived, drawn up and negotiated by the Turritan university and financed by the Ministry of University and Research with 119 million euros to be invested entirely in Sardinia. The University of Sassari is the coordinator of a HUB which also includes the University of Cagliari, the Sardinia Region, the Banco di Sardegna, the Fondazione di Sardegna and other bodies, including Confindustria, airport management companies and Unioncamere.

MUR minister Anna Maria Bernini praised two other projects within the Pnrr: two national centres, Aritech for Agricultural Technologies and Nbfc in the biodiversity sector. «They are two nurseries from which the professions of the future will be born. This is the role that universities must have in a world that has changed: to provide students with a complete toolbox for jobs that do not yet exist. By now there is a need for new figures, the medical engineer, the philosopher physicist».

At the inauguration of the academic year, the health councilor Carlo Doria also spoke, greeting the minister on behalf of the Region; Paolo Delogu, former Student Representative on the ERSU Board of Directors; Franco Filigheddu, Head of the Salaries and Tax Compliance Office of the University of Sassari, and Giuseppe Cuccurese, General Manager of Banco di Sardegna who gave a lectio magistralis on "Sardinia: the credit market at the service of the territory and analysis of the context of reference".
