The Legal Intervention Group presented a request for suspension of the new calendar of military exercises in Sardinia , scheduled for the second half of 2023. After authorization by the Minister of Defense, following the negative opinion of the regional components of the Joint joint committee, now comes the appeal to the TAR. The Grig, represented and defended by the lawyer Carlo Augusto Melis Costa, asked the administrative judges of Cagliari to rule on the exercises in the military ranges of Capo Teulada and Capo Frasca «in the absence of a positive conclusion of the necessary carrying out of the incidence assessment procedure environmental (Vinca, ed.)".

As underlined by the Group, «the two military ranges concern sites of community importance, belonging to the Natura 2000 network. Military training activities , like any activity that could cause damage to protected sites, must be subject to the Vinca procedure to minimize their impacts and introduce environmental compensation measures, as also indicated by the military code, procedures which appear to be regularly carried out regarding other ranges".

According to the association «the Ministry of Defense itself has underlined the importance of assiduously carrying out environmental protection operations at training sites and the Vinca procedures are regularly carried out in relation to other ranges present in other regions, but not in the Sardinian range. The only procedure currently underway is that relating to the environmental reclamation of the so-called "Delta" peninsula of the Capo Teulada range with the recovery of exercise residues".

Also supporting and promoting the appeal are A Foras activists who announce a press conference for tomorrow morning in Cagliari and further initiatives against the exercises.
