A serious act of intimidation occurred last night, around 2:00 a.m., in Gavoi. Unknown perpetrators set fire to the front door of the home of Graziella Podda, an employee of the Nuoro Courthouse . The home was significantly damaged, but fortunately, the woman was not inside at the time of the attack. Had she been home, she could have been seriously poisoned by fumes from burning plastic.
The Carabinieri and firefighters of Nuoro promptly intervened on site, alerted by Paolo Mulas, municipal administrator and neighbor, who raised the alarm and contributed to the first intervention.
The incident deeply shocked the Gavoi community. Mayor Salvatore Lai strongly condemned the incident, calling it "a very serious act, clearly intended to intimidate, carried out by unknown and criminal individuals."
The mayor also expressed solidarity with the victim on behalf of the entire city administration: "We express our deepest sympathy to Graziella Podda, a person esteemed for her dedication to helping those in need. We are confident that law enforcement will shed full light on this serious incident and that those responsible will be brought to justice and held accountable by our community."
The fire caused significant damage to the building's facade and electrical system, and completely destroyed the front door. The investigation is ongoing. At this time, investigators have ruled out all avenues. The entire community remains waiting for answers, demanding justice and greater security.
