The number of landings of migrants from Algeria to Sardinia is decreasing.
This is certified by the Viminale , in a note, where it is announced that since the beginning of the year the direct migratory flow from the North African coasts to the island has decreased by 7.12% compared to the same period of 2021.
Immigration was one of the themes at the center of the first Committee for Public Order and Safety chaired by the new Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi.
And, if the Algeria-Sardinia route in recent months has been less traveled than last year, the overall increase in the entries of migrants in Italy compared to 2021 was 50.7%,
In detail, says the Interior Ministry, from the beginning of 2022 to October 26, 79,647 migrants arrived in Italy, following 2,044 landing events.
The increase, it is emphasized, is largely attributable to the increase in arrivals from Libya, Tunisia and Turkey, the main countries of departure of migrants.
With specific reference to Libya, the continuing situation of internal instability is a determining factor in the growth of the migratory drive (+ 75.83%).
The flow from Tunisia has increased compared to last year and, as of October 26, recorded a + 25.96% compared to the same period last year.
Furthermore, the inflow from Turkey is consistent, which has recorded, since the beginning of the year, an increase of 43.02% compared to the same period last year.
