Mesina after the capture: "I hid because I didn't want to die in jail"

“I've already been in too much prison, over 45 years. And the idea of going back there to die there frightened me. "These are the words with which Graziano Mesina tried to explain to his lawyers, Beatrice Goddi and Maria Luisa Vernier, the reasons that led him to flee and hide, after the yet another prison sentence, arrived on 2 July 2020.

For their part, Goddi and Vernier said they were "very relieved" at the fact that the situation "has returned to legality".

As for the state of health of Mesina, captured last night in Desulo , where he was hiding in the house of two spouses, now under investigation for aiding and abetting, the two lawyers explained: "We found him thin and psychologically tried, but with good looks and fighting as always ".

From what we learn, Goddi and Vernier visited Mesina in the Nuoro prison of Badu 'e Carros in Nuoro, where their client welcomed them in a gray sweater and dark jeans, shaved and, as mentioned, very thin.

"He explained to us that this last year has been very hard for him: his closest loved ones died of Covid between December 2020 and March 2021, the two sisters Antonia and Rosa and the nephew Giancarlo with whom he lived. But also because, there he said he never stayed in the same place and shot a lot. He also had health problems, such as several episodes of nosebleeds - the lawyers conclude - but he treated himself ".

Goddi and Vernier are now awaiting the communication for the validation hearing from the competent court, probably Oristano.
