A huge brawl occurred inside the Uta correctional facility. Two opposing factions formed by Algerians and Italians face each other.

«From the very first and fragmentary news that we receive – explains Gennarino De Fazio, general secretary of the Uilpa Prison Police -, it would seem that the very few service agents would have been surrounded and forced to take refuge inside the garage. In these minutes, other members of the Penitentiary Police Corps who are free from service and specially called to try to restore order and security are rushing".

De Fazio adds: «Not only attacks on personnel, but by now also fights and what could be configured as real kidnappings are the order of the day in prisons, in a managerial and operational situation that is increasingly deteriorating, beyond beyond promises and government narrative. Despite the declarations of intent, often shared and even appreciable, by the Executive, above all by the mouth of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, with specific delegation, Andrea Delmastro delle Vedove, no concrete results are foreseen and we fear a hot summer not only under the climatic aspect".

Given "the absolute absence of the Minister of Justice on prison issues, Carlo Nordio, we invoke the direct involvement of the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, so that the emergency is taken note of and a prison decree is issued to deal with it through immediate extraordinary hiring, the Police penitentiary 18,000 units, equipment and revision of the custodial model are missing. Furthermore, at the same time, Parliament should approve an enabling law for the re-engineering of the prison system and the reorganization of the prison police force», concludes De Fazio.
