A flurry of checks in Northern Sardinia by the Carabinieri of the NAS of Sassari, aimed at preventing irregularities and risky situations for consumers.
During an initial inspection, the military targeted a kiosk in Gallura, where they found approximately 60 kg of meat stored in a refrigerator placed outdoors, under the sun and exposed to the elements, in very poor hygienic conditions. At the end of the inspection, the meat was seized, while the owner of the business was fined 2,500 euros.
A fine of 4,000 euros was instead imposed on the owner of a business in the Alghero area, where the NAS identified an illegal warehouse of frozen drinks and foods, also in this case kept in very poor hygienic conditions and unknown to the health authority.
During the investigation, in particular, twenty quintals of frozen foods were found, including fish products, which will be subjected to further checks by the ASL in order to evaluate their edibility and, with it, any potential dangers they would have represented for consumers if put on sale.
The entire warehouse was instead placed under seizure.
