Only three out of 22 suspects will go to trial in Oristano for one of the strands of the maxi investigation into the so-called Sardinian mayor-police , the political-judicial case which between 2015 and 2016 led to mayors, regional councilors and professionals accused in prison or under house arrest various types of bid rigging, corruption and extortion, aimed at the division of public offices and contracts.
The investigating judge of the court of Oristano, Salvatore Carboni, today decided the indictment of Antonello Peru , former center-right regional councilor and former vice-president of the Sardinian Assembly, Angelo Stochino , also regional councilor at the time of the contested events, and Tore Pinna , an engineer from Desulo, indicated by the prosecution as the head of the "dome" that would have steered the contracts, demanding 3% of the starting bid amount from the companies that won the tenders.
The three are due to appear in court on November 9 next .
The Oristano branch of the investigation, conducted by the Guardia di Finanza of Oristano and the Carabinieri of Tonara, concerns the contracts for two lots of the new four-lane Sassari-Olbia state road.
