«May 1st, Labor Day. How many workers can really afford to celebrate?". This was asked by the regional councilor for Labour, Desirè Manca, who shared his reflections in a note. «On this day we remember the battles for workers' rights fought by those who preceded us but above all we are called to reflect on how much there is still to do. My thoughts go to those who have lost their jobs, to those who are looking for it, to those fighting for fair pay and to all those who have lost their lives at work. Deaths at work and injuries are a plague in our country and deserve our commitment every day."

«According to the latest provisional survey by Inail , in 2023 almost three deaths at work were reported per day . An alarming fact. The unemployment rate on our island is worrying , furthermore, many workers are forced to leave to meet their life expectations - adds Manca -. Today I also want to remember all those workers who struggle daily to keep their companies afloat, in all sectors, and who have to face great difficulties linked to the economic crisis and ever new challenges."

«Despite having only taken office for a very short time, I am working to implement all those measures that the Sardinian people have been waiting for for too long , to reorganize and restart the Labor Department - he concludes - Unions and workers will always find my availability, doors open and opportunities for discussion. If the Republic recognizes the right to work for all citizens, our task is to protect the conditions that make this right effective."

On the occasion of May Day, the Region, as part of the project Countering Labor Exploitation in Sardinia, has planned some communication and awareness initiatives towards the population. With the slogan "The exploitation of work erases the dignity of the person" a series of activities will be proposed aimed at raising citizens' awareness on the topic of work exploitation. Among the planned initiatives is the dissemination of promotional material in the cities of Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro and Oristano.
